year five

Oh hey, there. It’s been a while, I’m aware, but life happens. Yesterday was, by definition, uneventful, albeit immensely soul-warming and happy-making so I was motivated to post today.

I woke up on the worst side of the bed–immune system doing its noble work combatting one of many varied viruses circulating the New York City subway system. Even after consuming a greater-than-average quantity of caffeine, I trudged through the day zombified and devoid of pleasantry. I complained about it–a whole lot. And when I got home from work, my boy was already at work preparing a hot meal and a hot bath for me. Turns out this strategy is incredibly therapeutic and I awoke right as rain this morning.

Indeed, I have been awesomely grateful for my partner in life lately–a generous creature who inspires me, challenges me, takes care of me, and makes me feel stronger. He’s pretty neat.

A couple of weeks ago, we celebrated our fifth year of marriage (yeah, what?!) with a brief adventure to beauteous Portland, Maine–a city we’re now dreaming of making a regular retreat. This was that:

We took the ferry to Peaks Island and explored it by bicycle. It was eerie and lovely and enchanting and cold as balls.
